The Heart Behind Hearten Design
I'm Nicole Bernat, the artist and surface pattern designer behind Hearten Design. My love for art has been woven into my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, you could often find me sketching Disney VHS movie box covers or taking art classes at various local studios. Those early years of creating shaped me in ways I still feel today.
In college, I studied graphic design and studio art. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was gathering all the threads that would one day come together in surface pattern design. Now, I get to blend those skills in the most meaningful way: creating artwork that begins by hand before becoming patterns for wallpaper, fabric, stationery, and thoughtfully made goods.
The Heart of My Work
My work is rooted in nature, memories, and a love for timeless beauty. I'm continually inspired by the quiet charm of everyday moments, and most of all, by my family. Their joy, encouragement, and presence in my life shape so much of what you'll find in my collections. They are my greatest blessing and the heart behind my creativity.
